Ericsson, Charles Industries Team to Make Affordable Broadband Service More Accessible

STOCKHOLM, Sweden--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 8, 2004--Ericsson (Nasdaq:ERICY) has reached an exclusive agreement with Charles Industries, Ltd., under which the company will market Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access product to Independent Operating Companies (IOCs) in North America. The product's scalability and use of cost-efficient Ethernet technology are designed to help service providers deliver broadband Internet access and high bandwidth-demanding services to a mass market profitably.
Charles Industries will sell Ericsson's Ethernet DSL Access product under the private label "STEP DSL(tm)." Under the terms of the agreement, Ericsson will continue to sell Ethernet DSL Access directly to RBOCs and other large operators, while Charles Industries and its preferred distributors will address IOCs.
